Desmodium is a genus of dicotyledonous flowering plants in the family Fabaceae, subfamily Faboideae, with a pantropical distribution and comprising over 300 species.
They are herbaceous plants, shrubs, or bushes, with generally trifoliate leaves and small, numerous flowers grouped in clusters or panicles. Plants of the genus Desmodium secrete chemicals that repel insects and kill certain seeds. Some species are used in repellent-attraction techniques in agriculture.
